The Upstream Art Trail

The Upstream Art Trail is a temporary public art exhibition in Wellington’s Central Park organised by Upstream: Friends of Central Park.

The most recent Art Trail took place March 2-5, 2017 and showcased the work of 15 emerging artists and a combined work by five local primary schools.

In addition to the art on show visitors enjoyed live music, a family friendly environment, and food and drink from local stallholders in the relaxing “beer garden”.

The inaugural exhibition in March 2015 was well attended and proved a hit with local residents, visitors, and the Wellington arts community. Attendees commented on the quality, diversity and accessibility of the artworks on show, and the event won the “Best Visual Arts” award at the New Zealand Fringe Festival.
